A group of volunteers have started an effort to get a handle on the estimated thousands of feral cats roaming Charlotte County. Over 30-cats were trapped over the weekend. NBC2 reports they’ve been spayed, neutered and vaccinated by veterinarians and been returned to where they were captured. A spokesperson for Community Cats of Charlotte says their goal is to control the feral cat population without resorting to euthanizing them. The goal is to trap about a 100-cats a month. Community Cats of Charlotte relies on private donations to curb the feral cat population without using shelters.
