Barricade tape surrounding the eagle nest near History Park will be removed in favor of smaller signs. Florida Fish and Wildlife has asked the city to cordon off the area as much as possible so the nest and its inhabitants remain undisturbed by curious parkgoers. The nest has been unoccupied since Valentine’s Day. Eagle nesting season runs from October May 15, so Punta Gorda’s city council members voiced decided that a year-round fence would be too much. The signs will be placed around the next on a temporary basis during the nesting season to warn people to leave it and the eagles alone.
