(PUNTA GORDA) Charlotte County Sheriff’s detectives arrests a Port Charlotte man already in jail in connection with a North Port Police grand theft case (CN 2013-01-1270); the thief sold the stolen jewelry to two Port Charlotte businesses. Arrested on five felony counts of Dealing in Stolen Property and five counts of False Verification of Ownership was Michael Robert Flazarano, 27, 4203 Eastlake Court.

On Feb. 15, North Port Police notified CCSO detectives that they filed Grand Theft charges on Flazarano that occurred in their jurisdiction. Flazarano was a friend of the victims and was staying with the couple; they discovered he was stealing and selling their jewelry. CCSO detectives located four transactions that Flazarano made at Gold Pros in Town Center Mall, and one transaction at Precise Diamonds, 18700 Veterans Boulevard. Detectives confirmed that Flazarano’s signature and thumb print were on all five transactions where he stated the jewelry was his and sold it to the two gold dealers.

CCSO detectives met with Flazarano at the Charlotte County Jail about the transactions; he declined comment and asked to speak to his attorney. Flazarano has been in the jail since Feb. 14 on two CCSO drug charges and two out of county warrants. He remains in jail on no bond at this time. Flazarano’s girlfriend told detectives that he stole and sold the jewelry to support his drug habit.
