Sarasota County deputies and the U-S Marshall’s Service have collared a career scam artist who skipped out on probation here and was wanted for new crimes in Michigan.

Scott Allen Northey was captured in Lakewood Ranch. Northey had been on the run since February 29th when he failed to appear in United States District Court in Michigan to be sentenced for Bank Fraud. Northey has an extensive multi-state felony criminal history dating back to 1988 for check fraud and wire fraud. Most recently he is accused of stealing $500,000 from a construction project for a Detroit cheer program.
