(PORT CHARLOTTE) Charlotte County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a Port Charlotte woman Tuesday after she attempted to obtain fraudulent drugs from a pain management business.

CCSO was informed by employees of Charlotte County Medical Solutions, 3191 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, that a woman named Bonnie Lee Palon, 40, 21459 Glendale Ave., attempted to pass a fraudulent MRI report in an attempt to receive Oxycodone pain medication on Aug. 15. Narcotics detectives contacted the nurse who had direct contact with Palon. She said Palon came in to see the doctor and provided her driver’s license, the MRI report, and her prescription history. The MRI report listed Palon as a patient from Advanced Imaging, 2625 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte.

The nurse told Palon she would have to wait to see the doctor; she then called Advanced Imaging who advised the MRI was fraudulent and Palon was turned away. The nurse gave detectives copies of Palon’s information that she provided. Detectives contacted the Advanced Imaging administrator who said Palon made an appointment to have an MRI done, but canceled it.

On Aug. 31, detectives went to A New Life Pain Management Clinic, 40 Berkley Circle, in Ft. Myers, in reference to Palon passing the same fraudulent MRI report. The clinic administrator told detectives Palon was prescribed Oxycodone based on the facts from the MRI she presented. A copy of Palon’s driver’s license was obtained from that clinic. Detectives said the MRI report Palon used in Ft. Myers was identical to the one she attempted to pass at Medical Solutions in Port Charlotte.

Narcotics detectives located and arrested Palon and charged her with Fraudulent Attempt to Obtain a Controlled Substance (Oxycodone). She was transported to the Charlotte County Jail, booked, and then posted a $2,500 bond.
