Western Michigan University has received two provisional licenses from Florida’s Commission for Indepedent Education.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports this allows WMU to offer aviation and other instructional programs in Charlotte County.
The university may now operate a campus in Punta Gorda.
The licenses bring WMU and partners like Florida SouthWestern State College one step closer to creating pilot training and aviation maintenance technology programs in the Sunshine State.
They also give the university the flexibility to offer programs in the health and human services fields.
The Higher Learning Commission still needs to approve the course offerings.
