The Wildlife Center of Venice is preparing its new home, just a stone’s throw away from their current location. 14 years ago, the foundation started on a property off Border Road in Venice and hoped to buy the land, but the property owner changed her mind. Now, the center is getting ready to move its animals, staff, and all the paperwork that comes with the deal. The center still has to apply for a re-zone with Sarasota County. The 5-acre property is larger than their current footprint- Director Kevin Barton told ABC-7 he hopes to have a 120ft long flyway for rehabbed birds that need to re-learn how to fly. They hope to have the whole process complete in just over a year.
