Wichita police have opened a homicide investigation after two people brought a suitcase containing a woman’s body to a fire station on Hydraulic Avenue Wednesday night. The victim, a 67-year-old woman who had been reported missing, was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to the Sedgwick County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Investigators are interviewing the two individuals who delivered the suitcase, processing evidence, and canvassing the surrounding neighborhood to establish a timeline. Police say they are awaiting fingerprint confirmation before releasing the woman’s identity. No arrests have been announced, and authorities say there is no information indicating an ongoing threat to the public.
