Walmart is recalling roughly 4.5 million Expert Grill metal wire bristle brushes after the Consumer Product Safety Commission warned that loose bristles can detach, stick to grills or food, and cause severe internal injuries requiring surgery if swallowed. The brushes were sold in Walmart stores nationwide and on Walmart.com from January 2021 through August 2026, either individually or as part of grilling tool sets, priced between $1 and $28. Five models are covered by the recall.
So far, no injuries or incidents have been reported, according to the CPSC. That’s good news, but it’s also why this recall matters: the danger is invisible. A bristle that snaps off during scraping can sit on the grate until the next round of burgers goes down, and by then nobody’s thinking about their grill brush. For Suncoast households that grill year-round, the brush hanging on the patio could easily be one of the recalled models.
The fix is straightforward. Stop using the brush, then contact Walmart for a full refund or store credit, either by returning the product to a store or by calling the recall line at 800-925-6278, available Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. CT. While you’re at it, give the rest of your grilling tools a once-over before the next cookout.
