A Walker police officer is facing two serious sex crime charges after a Livingston Parish investigation expanded this month. Hayden McKenzie, 23, was booked October 5 on a charge of indecent behavior with a juvenile, stemming from an April 2025 incident involving a 13-year-old. The case began with a complaint filed in August, and the Walker Police Department suspended McKenzie with pay following his arrest.
The case grew after an adult woman contacted the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office about a separate alleged assault from April 2024. Detectives say evidence uncovered during the investigation led to a second-degree rape charge, and McKenzie was processed back into the Livingston Parish Detention Facility after previously bonding out on the first charge.
Sheriff Jason Ard has confirmed the investigation remains active, and more details could still emerge. For Gulf Coast communities that rely on local law enforcement, cases like this raise real questions about oversight, accountability, and how departments respond when one of their own is accused. We’ll keep following this story and bring you updates as they’re confirmed. What questions do you want answered about how cases like this are handled? Let us know in the comments.
