Due to the countywide recreational burn ban in effect and extremely dry conditions, the fireworks show originally planned for Venice High School’s graduation tomorrow has been canceled, according to Venice Fire Chief Shawn Carvey. Sarasota County issued the recreational burn ban on April 21 due to dry weather conditions. In accordance with the county’s open burning ordinance, the mandatory burn ban will remain in effect until weather conditions change and the chance of wildfire is reduced. The only exception to the ban is cooking fires using outdoor grills.
