A Venice doctor is planning to open a medical marijuana clinic. MySuncoast.com reports that Doctor Barry M. Gordon will head the Compassionate Cannabis Care Clinic of Venice starting January 2nd, the day before Amendment Two becomes law. The amendment, passed by voters earlier this month, permits the use of medical marijuana for patients with debilitating conditions. Gordon is one of only four Sarasota County doctors licensed by the state to prescribe marijuana-based products. The planned clinic would only be able to prescribe and not dispense. Compassionate Cannabis Care of Venice will be located within the Lake View Office Park on Commercial Court just west of the city of Venice.
