The city engineer calls the losses on Venice beaches minimal following Tropical Storm Colin.

Kathleen Weeden, however, reports some increased erosion at the Flamingo Ditch region and some accumulations near the Venice Fishing Pier.

Weeden also says sand has started forming south and east of the South Jetty boulders.

The beach system continues recovering from Colin, and it should stabilize through the next few weeks.

The city intends to examine the escarpment to see how to safely adjust it without affecting nesting turtles. The storm has left many of them unmarked.

When it receives authorization to knock down the escarpment, the city says staff can see whether or not it can improve the connection between Humphris Park and the open beach.
