The City of Venice is beginning smoke testing on the sanitary sewer services in some areas of the island of Venice starting on Monday.
The test forces smoke into the lines to check for leaks, breaks and defects in the system. The smoke is odorless, does not create a fire hazard, and will not get into any homes or businesses unless there is either defective plumbing or dried-up sink traps or floor drains.
The testing starts at 830 Monday morning and will run through the week next week. Anyone wanting more information is asked to call the city.
