The Venice Public Fishing Pier at 1600 S. Harbor Drive is now accessible after dark following repairs to the structure’s lights, according to City Engineer Kathleen Weeden. The pier has been reopened for daylight operation only since Saturday, Oct. 21, after undergoing temporary repairs. City Council directed staff to move forward with the temporary repairs so the pier could reopen while formal bidding for the complete replacement of the Pier’s decking and railing is completed. Temporary work started Oct. 16. Replacement of the deck and railing is scheduled for spring of 2018.
