A 2-month-old girl is in serious condition after a bizarre accident in Venice.
According to Sarasota County deputies, the baby was on a bed when 34-year old George Glushenko threw a phone onto the bed, bouncing up and hitting the baby in the forehead. The baby’s mother, 29-year old Ashley Finnegan, told police she was sitting on the bed with the baby when Glushenko, her boyfriend, threw the phone after becoming angry over a Facebook post.
However, at the hospital, doctors found multiple injuries on the little girl, including shearing injuries of the brain, a skull fracture, and a depression in the skull. Doctors determined she had two high-force impacts -not caused by a bouncing phone, but rather by abuse.
Gluschenko was charged with aggravated child abuse. Finnegan was charge with aggravated child abuse accessory after the fact and neglect of a child with great bodily harm. Both are being held in the Sarasota County jail without bond.
