Some school districts across the country call it the Single Point of Entry. Venice Middle School will soon go under changes aimed at keeping everyone on campus safe from intruders during normal hours. Walls that will keep rooms private from others will be built and new drainage systems will be installed as well. A new lighting system will be more conducive to learning for students, but the main goal is to keep intruders off campus and away from students, faculty and staff. The project, which is projected to cost $12.5 million, will begin as soon as students leave for the summer. It is scheduled to be complete before kids go back to school in the late summer.
