The overcrowding issue at Venice High School appears to have been solved…for now, at least.
On Monday, the Sarasota County School Board decided to choose an addition of a new wing to the school rather than wait for all-new construction.
Venice High is already over capacity by around 100 kids, and is set to be over capacity by triple that amount in five years.
The next step will be to find funding sources for the new proposed wing, which would house 400 students. That’s barely 100 more kids than the school anticipates will be enrolled at Venice by the time it’s built.
