Venice Regional Bayfront formally opposes Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s planned campus on Laurel Road.
The Herald-Tribune reports it has detailed its objections in a 321-page document to state regulators.
Venice Regional says it sees no need for a new hospital and outpatient center in north Venice.
Additionally, because Sarasota Memorial’s new hospital would not offer pediatric, obstetric, or other specialty care, Venice Regional believes the total package from this new hospital would duplicate what it already offers.
Further, Venice Regional has mentioned its affiliated primary care center that opens next month on Laurel Road just a half-mile from the proposed Sarasota Memorial site.
