The city of Venice is out to educate residents on ways to end fertilizer use.

A proposed fertilizer ban in the city was proposed earlier this month as a way to try and stem the future outbreaks of red tide, which some believe get worse due to polluted stormwater runoff.

The first part of the city’s plan included adding an insert in each resident’s utility bill about ways to keep usage down. The city is also hosting a presentation next month at City Hall with speakers from the UF Extension office.
