Venice High School has fired its head football coach amid a social media flap in which John Peacock ‘liked’ a racist Tweet one of his players sent regarding Curt Bradley, the multi-racial head coach at Braden River High School.
Peacock claimed to not know that Bradley was multi-racial and said “nothing was intended to be racist.”
In a statement, he then blasted Bradley, saying his firing was Bradley’s “desperate attempt to exploit today’s racial tension to distract from the disgrace he has brought to his program.”
He then accused Bradley of cheating, claiming he was the one that revealed to the Florida High School Athletic Association that Braden River was holding illegal workouts…and that Bradley and the Braden River program used the Twitter incident to “distract” from the workout issue.
The firing comes just months after Peacock led the Indians to a state title.
