The Venice Public Fishing Pier has officially reopened for daylight operation. The pier reopened on Saturday. Earlier this month, city leaders in Venice went ahead and hired a contractor to make minor and temporary repairs to the structure itself. Lights are expected to be repaired this week- all other emergency repairs have been completed. Until those lights are installed and operational, the pier will be closed and locked at sunset, then reopened the next morning. The pier had been closed since Hurricane Irma hit last month, which caused both railings and decking to come loose.
