The Diocese of Venice has made a big land purchase in the West Villages Improvement District thanks to a recent land swap and buy. The diocese now has 46 acres along River Road south of the US-41 intersection. A new church campus is planned for that site. In a prepared statement, Bisohop Reverend Frank Dewane said Sunday the location is ‘ideal…to meet existing and future pastoral needs due to rapid growth in the area.’ The diocese sold 20 acres it owned in West Villages and put it towards the new property.
