A Venice day care worker is facing child abuse charges after surveillance video captured her “aggressively handling” three toddlers.
Witnesses told police they saw 26-year-old Jamie Smithmyer abusing a child at Manasota Beach Daycare and Preschool.
The video showed the woman dragging kids by their arms, shoving kids, and throwing them to the floor. Smithmyer was arrested on Friday and charged with three counts of child abuse without great bodily harm.
The Punta Gorda woman remained behind bars without bond over the weekend.
