VENICE- Venice City Council member Deborah Anderson announced Tuesday afternoon that she will not be running in November for a second term on the council.

Her announcement came after her former opponent, Emilio Carlesimo, was cleared on a number of complaints she filed against him in the November 2015 election. Anderson filed nearly a half dozen ethics and election violation complaints against him. This month, Carlesimo was acquitted by the Florida Elections Commission on all but two complaints. For those, he was given a $100 fine.

Anderson said in a statement this week she was looking forward to enjoying her retirement and going back to being a private citizen.
