A reminder that the annual Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Thanksgiving Food Drive ends Friday in Venice. Nonperishable foods can be dropped off at city hall and volunteers will pick up the food for sorting. The food will go to local pantries and those who are hungry for Thanksgiving. A fund drive running concurrently with the food drive has a goal of raising $205,000 this year to purchase $10 food gift cards to be given away free through local food pantries this holiday season. Individuals and organizations can also donate to the effort this way. The Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program has food collection boxes in over 400 locations including City Halls, schools, police stations, fire stations and many businesses and other organizations. Organizers hope to collect 50 tons of nonperishables this year for those in need.
