After three years of trying, developers of the planned Murphy Oaks Development in Venice were officially shot down by the city last night.
Developers were asking the city to rezone 40 acres of land near Auburn Road and Fox Lea Drive in order to build 105 houses on that site.
The land is currently only zoned for 8 homes, but the developers were insistent on trying to build an entire gated community next to one of the premier horse show locations in the nation, despite the noise and manure smell that goes with it.
No word on what the developers’ plans are now that a years-long fight to build there has ended.
