The Venice City Council has voted to seek help from the county in finding land for a new park in northeast Venice. The city already has a 10 acre plot in mind- one on Knights Trail Road, just north of a proposed apartment complex. That land is being listed for $2.1 million. The northern end of that 10 acres comes to the intersection of Knights Trail and Gene Green roads. Citizens in the northeast section of Venice have been clamoring for public parks and other amenities in their area. Right now, the only major park in the area is Myakka River Park, which was created when the Venetian Golf and River Club was platted.
