A Venice attorney has been arrested on multiple counts of fraud. Officials from the FBI and Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office say Adam Miller was allegedly embezzling money from at least four clients, and continued even after they were dead. Investigators estimate Miller stole nearly a half million dollars since 2013 by opening accounts in clients’ names without permission- in some cases, even after their deaths- and wrote himself checks from the accounts. Miller was arrested for one count of Exploitation of the Elderly Over $50,000, two counts of Scheme to Defraud over $50,000, and one count of Scheme to Defraud between $20,000 – $40,000. Additional charges are expected.
