Firefighters put out a vehicle fire in Punta Gorda last night and found a body inside. At around 10 p.m., Charlotte County Fire and EMS, along with the sheriff’s office, responded to a reported vehicle fire on Bermont Road. The exact location was on an unpaved roadway leading to AMI Kids–that’s a group home dedicated to helping troubled youth become responsible and productive citizens. The vehicle was found to be fully involved and, once the fire was out, unidentified human remains were discovered inside the vehicle. An investigation is ongoing to determine the identity of the occupant of the vehicle and the cause of the fire, which authorities have labeled as suspicious.
