Getting vaccinated for the human papillomavirus would be a requirement for all public school kids if a bill passes through the Florida legislature. Democratic State Sen. Jose Javier Rodriguez of Miami is the lead sponsor of the bill. The vaccine is given in two doses and is recommended for kids, ages 11 and 12. The infection can cause many kinds of cancers, but often goes undetected. The Centers for Disease Control says your immune system has a tendency if ridding the body of the infection within two years. A bill that was fairly similar failed in 2011.
