US Rep Vern Buchanan yesterday announced that he has introduced a bill in the House aimed at slowing the opioid epidemic.
Buchanan detailed his Opioid Emergency Response Act, a combination of seven different bills, involving research, alternative medications, and expanding seniors’ access to treatment by allowing new providers to join Medicare.
The legislation also calls for researchers to study the link between opioids and veteran suicides, and mandates stronger Postal Service screening on packages to try and stop fentanyl from being shipped in.
