US Congressman Vern Buchanan was in Manatee County on Monday, touting a law that was added into the Republican tax reform bill. The Emergency Citrus Disease Response Act was drafted and sponsored by a host of Florida Representatives. It makes it less costly for citrus farmers to replace trees damaged by both Hurricane Irma and citrus greening. The law also provides tax incentives if growers cannot afford to replace damaged trees.
