A Venice man trying to cross U.S. 41 near Jacarando Boulevard early Sunday morning was hit by an SUV and seriously injured. The Florida Highway Patrol said that 39-year-old Jeromy Broadbent was hit on the leg and knocked into the median by a northbound Chevy Traverse. According to the FHP, the driver of the SUV, 4-year-old William Mannino of Venice, did not see Broadbent, who was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. No charges were immediately filed.
