According to an annual study done by a Canadian firm, US-41 ranks as the second most dangerous road in the country…behind only US-1 on the Atlantic side of Florida. The company called Geotab looked at ten years of traffic data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and found that only Route 1 outnumbered US-41 in the way of serious accidents. US-1 had 1,011 fatal crashes in the last decade, while US-41 had 714. Florida Highway Patrol officials say, rankings or not, there’s a consistent effort to get drivers to obey speed limits and traffic signals.
