Two Port Charlotte residents are dead after a motorcycle tried to take a curve too fast. The crash happened Saturday night on Kings Highway south of Westchester Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Police say the driver, 46-year old Rusticus Jones and his passenger, 45-year old Robin Chalupa, were thrown off the bike. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Jones was speeding when he came upon a curve in the road. He failed to stop in time, put the motorcycle in a skid, drifted off the road, struck a curb, and flipped the bike over. Both people were rushed to area hospitals where they later died- neither were wearing helmets.
