A four-car crash on I-75 on Friday evening resulted in the deaths of two people.

The crash happened in the northbound lanes near Clark Road around 430pm Friday.

FHP troopers say 31-year old Amed Gonzalez was driving a GMC Yukon and failed to slow down for stopped traffic. He rear-ended a Nissan driven by a Fort Myers woman, 35-year old Nakesha Mitchell.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, as was one of her passengers, 24-year old Deshondra Gary. A third person in that car remains in critical condition.

The chain reaction crash involved two other cars and 6 other people, all of whom suffered only minor injuries. Charges are pending against Gonzalez.
