Two Dead in Major Crash on U.S. 41 in Venice

VENICE, Fla. — Two people were killed in a severe crash on U.S. 41 at Seminole Drive Sunday afternoon September 8th. The accident occurred around 1:20 p.m.

According to authorities, a sedan traveling north in the outside lane of U.S. 41 collided with a sports car that was heading east on Seminole Drive. Both vehicles entered the intersection at the same time, resulting in the front of the sports car striking the sedan on its left side. The impact caused the sedan to crash into a traffic control cabinet.

The driver and front-seat passenger of the sedan, both 37 years old, were pronounced dead at the scene. A backseat passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

The 80-year-old driver and passenger of the sports car also suffered serious injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
