Trump, Vance Fan Out Across Ohio, Alaska, and Texas as Midterm Races Tighten

The midterm campaign season is kicking into a higher gear this week, with President Trump scheduled to headline events in Ohio and Alaska while Vice President JD Vance works the trail in Texas. Trump’s Monday stop in Youngstown backs Sen. Jon Husted, who is locked in a close race with former Sen. Sherrod Brown. Ohio’s governor’s race between Vivek Ramaswamy and Dr. Amy Acton is also competitive, putting the state back in the national spotlight after years of drifting out of the swing-state conversation.

Tuesday brings Trump to Wasilla, Alaska, where Sen. Dan Sullivan is seeking a third term against former Rep. Mary Peltola. Alaska has voted Republican in the last three presidential cycles by comfortable margins, which makes the tightening Senate race there a notable development for both parties. Meanwhile, Vance heads to Tyler, Texas, to campaign for Attorney General Ken Paxton’s Senate bid and Gov. Greg Abbott’s run for a fourth term.

These three states represent very different pieces of the midterm puzzle, and the travel schedules suggest where national resources are being concentrated in the final stretch. For Suncoast voters, it’s a window into the broader political momentum heading into November, even if the closest races are hundreds of miles away.
