Siesta Key business owners and the Siesta Key Village Association think a trolley system could help the island’s traffic and parking problems.

Wendall Jacobsen from the association says one route would run from the Southgate Mall to Siesta VIllage and then onto the beach. A second route would run from Sarasota Pavilion Mall to the beach.

However, WWSB-TV reports some business owners think a trolley system would create more congestion on narrow roads.

Siesta Key’s ranking as the second best beach in the country helps make it a tourist draw, so business owners want to make their places more accessible.
