The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after a traffic stop led deputies to the discovery of a GPS that was stolen during a recent car burglary in Venice. Deputies pulled over 18-year-old Michael Cararo after he allegedly ran a stop sign on Englewood Road in Venice Tuesday night. Cararo consented to a search of his vehicle where deputies recovered three GPS systems; one of which came back to a home in the Stoneybrook neighborhood. The owner confirmed the device had been stolen two weeks prior. The Sheriff’s Office says Cararo admitted to burglarizing several cars in the surrounding area but wasn’t able to confirm the date of the crimes.
