A traffic stop in Punta Gorda yesterday led to a chase and two drug arrests.

Police say officers smelled marijuana after they stopped a vehicle near Charlotte Avenue and Taylor Street.

Someone in the back seat ran out of it, and an officer had to run after him.

Police say an officer saw Douglas Stroman toss plastic bags as he ran.

They caught Stroman in a parking lot, finding bags of marijuana and a cigarette on him.

Police claim they also found him with 550 dollars, separated in a manner consistent with selling illegal narcotics.

They obtained a search warrant for Stroman’s resident on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Police found more marijuana there.

Officers also arrested Christopher Landry for driving on a suspended license, among other things.
