The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people Monday following a dog’s death last week.
It charged 56-year-old Judy Lamb, 70-year-old Eddie Roden, and 51-year-old Mona Lisa Gehman with animal cruelty.
Deputies initially raced out to North River Road in Nokomis after someone learned Lamb and Roden had mishandled the dog as its owner slept.
Lamb admitted to trying to choke the dog. Gehman apparently stepped in to help. Roden admitted to tying a shoestring around its neck.
Meanwhile, detectives continue investigating Lamb’s death. Corrections personnel found her unresponsive in her jail cell last night.
