Emergency crews got a bit more than they bargained for when responding to a crash along I-75 in North Port on Tuesday.

Police say an SUV ran off the road near mile marker 172, went airborne, smashed through a fence, and then hit a tree. Along the way, the SUV also destroyed a handful of bee boxes.

Police had trouble reaching the crash site on foot because of what they said were thousands of bees swarming the area. Firefighters used a high-pressure foam spray to clear away the bugs so rescue crews could get two victims out of that SUV.
