Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight has put together a new team aimed at decreasing homelessness to the tune of $600 thousand. The budgeted figure pays for a pair of deputies, one sergeant and two mental health professionals to enforce the outdoor lodging law that will take got into effect in March. An agreement between local governments and certain nonprofit agencies will ease the changes specially in Sarasota County where nearly half a million dollars will be available for beds and services, partly in the Salvation Army.
