Sarasota County school teachers should expect a pay bump soon. On Monday, the school board and the teacher’s union agreed to a four-percent retroactive pay raise for most staff beginning from this past summer on July 1st. The raise is the biggest for Sarasota County school district employees in ten years. It still must be approved by union employees, who will vote on whether to ratify the contract on December 13th and 14th. If it passes, the School Board is expected to approve the pay raise at its January 3rd meeting.
