The Southwest Florida chapter of the Susan G. Komen organization will be shutting down.

Former Executive Director Georgia Hitzke as well as President of the local Board of Directors Ken O’Donnell confirmed to NBC-2 on Tuesday that the local chapter of the non-profit is expected to close its doors permanently in late May or early June due to financial reasons.

O’Donnell said they are no longer able to meet growing financial requirements after this year’s agreement laid out a minimum budget of $750,000.
Local affiliates of the organization must sign an affiliate agreement each year, which carry a certain amount of conditional requirements that must be met for the organization to function.
