A recent survey released by both Venice MainStreet and the Chamber of Commerce found red tide affected more than 70 percent of all businesses in Venice.
The survey says more than $1M in business was lost, and more than 10 percent of all businesses said they saw a drop in business of more than 50 percent compared to August of 2017.
Between the red tide and the ongoing construction on Venice Avenue, many business owners have said this off-season has been one of the worst in recent memory.
