Local outlets are reporting on families that carved turkeys in their shorts at long-term beachside camping sites like Siesta Key and Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey. Tourists from around the Great Lakes and as far north as Canada told the “Sarasota Herald-Tribune” that a mild Florida vacation is a welcome respite from the colder north. Triple-A estimates that nearly 50-million Americans are traveling this weekend.
