A local state Senator is pushing for voters to pass a constitutional amendment that would put term limits on members of county school boards. Republican Greg Steube filed a bill for the upcoming legislative session that would see school board members limited to a pair of four-year terms. Steube said he thinks “it’s important to have a new wave of leadership at these different school boards.” If approved by the Legislature, the proposed constitutional amendment would go on the November 2018 ballot. It would need approval of 60 percent of voters to take effect.
